Ungdomshuset Solidarity Action in NYC

Descend upon Danish Consulate on Tuesday March 6th at NOON

In response to the repression of our brothers and sisters in Denmark and the seizure of Ungdomshuset, a community center which has served Danish youth, activists and musicians for years, we call for a solidarity action at the Danish Consulate on Tuesday, March 6 th at noon. We must defend the right of communities to organize and defend their spaces from the State.

The Danish State sold Ungdomshuset to the right wing Christian group, Faderhuset, in 2000. The residents of Copenhagen have resisted the sale of their community center and have fought back against the State numerous times, culminating with wide spread resistance on March 1st, when the police forcibly evicted the residents of Ungdomshuset.

We demand the release of all those arrested during the resistance to the eviction. We demand that the State end its violent attacks against the people of Copenhagen. We demand the return of Ungdomshuset to the people. We join with others across the world in condemning the Danish State.
